The impact

One engineer covering IoT, backend, admin tooling, web, and mobile, on a grant-funded hardware venture. PourSelf and Barhopp both came out of this work.

Sole programmer at Torio, a Sproti-funded self-service drink venture. Built the dispenser admin, the programs behind it, the landing page, and the Barhopp mobile app.

01

The company

Torio won Sproti funding from Tækniþróunarsjóður to build a self-service drink machine. Hardware alone is not a product: the machine needed software to run it, an admin to manage it, and a way for venues and customers to find it.

02

Full-stack developer

I was the sole programmer on the team. I built the admin web for the dispenser and the programs that ran it, the landing page at torio.is, and Barhopp, the event and venue mobile app that connected the product to real nightlife.

What I was responsible for

  • The machine software

Wrote the programs that ran the dispenser and connected it to the backend.

  • Operator admin

Built the web admin venues used to manage taps, drinks, prices, and machine status.

  • Mobile and web

Built the Barhopp app and the torio.is landing page, and shipped both to real users.

  • Everything around it

Payments, APIs, deployment, monitoring, and production support. There was no one else to hand it to.

What I used

Hardware, mobile, and web from one desk.
